Tomato Rasam

Ingredients
- Tomatoes - 6-7 nos
- Tamarind (Imli) – 1 teaspoon
- Salt – to taste
- Oil – 1 tablespoon
- Onion – 1 large (thinly sliced)
- Water – 2 cups (450 ml)
- Turmeric powder(Haldi) – ¼th teaspoon
- Goosebumps Rasam masala – 1 heaped teaspoon
- Garlic - 2 cloves (Chopped)
- Red Chili powder (Lal mirch) - 1 teaspoon
- Curry leaves - 5 to 6 nos
- Cumin seeds (Jeera) – 1/4th teaspoon
- Asafetida (Hing) – pinch
Directions
- Chop tomatoes roughly, cook them with just enough water and the tamarind and salt, until soft, Puree this mixture, strain and keep aside.
- Heat oil in a saucepan, add in hing, cumin seeds, curry leaves, garlic, onion and turmeric powder and saute for a couple of minutes until onions are translucent.
- Add the tomato puree and water (if needed), red chili powder and 1 heaped teaspoon of Goosebumps Rasam masala, Mix well and let this simmer for 10-12 minutes.
- Check seasoning and serve hot.
